# Alerts and sounds

> How Narciso alerts the user: pop-up messages, the dot for unread messages, the payment sound and the shop radio. No browser notifications.

Narciso alerts the user **only inside the program**, while the tab is open. It does not use browser notifications and does not ask for any permission to show them.

## Pop-up messages

Confirmations and errors appear as small messages in a corner of the screen and disappear after a few seconds: green for a confirmation, yellow for a warning, red for an error.

## Unread messages

On the chat button in the sidebar a **red dot with the number** of unread messages appears («99+» above 99). See [Comunicazioni](https://narciso.io/en/docs/comunicazioni/).

> **Warning.** If the Narciso tab is in the background, no operating-system alert and no sound arrives for new messages. Keep the tab open and check it from time to time.

## Sounds

- **Payment received.** In Cassa, when a payment on the reader is received, the green notification appears and a short payment sound plays (see [Cash desk](https://narciso.io/en/docs/cassa/)). The browser allows audio only after a click by the user: the click on **Riscuoti** (Collect) counts as consent. If the audio does not play, the notification still appears.
- **Shop radio.** The **Radio** button in the sidebar controls the salon's radio. It starts only after a click and keeps playing while you move between pages. The computer's audio must not be muted.

There are no other alert sounds.

## System temporarily congested

If the system is under heavy load, the error «Sistema momentaneamente congestionato. Riprova tra qualche minuto.» (System temporarily congested. Try again in a few minutes.) may appear when sending messages. Send again after a few minutes, without making many attempts in quick succession.
