# Business set-up

> The first step of registration: VAT number with automatic filling of the data, logo, name, VAT regime, locations with address, contacts and social media.

**Step 1** of the [Business registration](https://narciso.io/en/docs/registrazione-attivita/) collects the company's main data. The title is «Configura la tua Attività» (Set up your Business), with the subtitle «Inserisci i dati principali della tua azienda per avviare il setup.» (Enter your company's main data to start the setup.).

## VAT number

As soon as you enter the step, almost the whole form is blurred and in black and white: only the **Partita IVA** (VAT number) field is active. Clicking on the locked area shows «Compila prima il campo P. IVA!» (Fill in the VAT number field first!).

The form unlocks when the VAT number:

- has exactly **11 digits**;
- passes the formal check of the check digit;
- is not already linked to an active business and is not blocked.

You can type or paste it with the **IT** prefix and with spaces or hyphens too: the field removes them by itself. If the check digit does not add up, «La Partita IVA inserita non è formalmente valida.» (The VAT number entered is not formally valid.) appears and the form stays locked.

### Automatic filling of the data

With a valid VAT number, the search for company data in the business register starts («Ricerca dati aziendali...» (Searching company data...)). If the company is found, the available fields are filled in:

- business name, from the company name;
- contact email, phone, PEC, website, Facebook and Instagram of location 1;
- address of location 1;
- the additional locations in the company registry extract (visura), if there are any;
- the legal representatives, offered as cards in step 3 (see [Adding staff during registration](https://narciso.io/en/docs/staff-iniziale/)).

Everything that is filled in can be edited: it is best to check every item before going on.

### VAT number errors

## Company logo

The logo is compulsory. There are three ways to get one.

### Uploading a file

Click in the box «Carica logo (JPG, PNG)» (Upload logo (JPG, PNG)) and choose a file (PNG, JPEG or WebP). As soon as it is uploaded the preview appears and the palette of step 2 is recalculated from the logo's colours (see [Company palette and fonts](https://narciso.io/en/docs/identita-visiva/)). To remove it, use the red bin **Rimuovi logo** (Remove logo): the palette goes back to the default values.

> **Note.** Before choosing a different logo, it is best to remove the current one with the bin. If you chose a logo generated with artificial intelligence and then upload a file, the preview may not match what is saved.

### Generating it with artificial intelligence

1. In the box, click the link **Non ce l'ho. Creiamolo insieme!** (I don't have one. Let's create it together!).
2. Describe the logo in the text box, from 3 to 500 characters. The more precise the description, the better the result.
3. Under the box «Generazioni gratuite rimaste per oggi: N» (Free generations left for today: N) appears. Free generations are limited (3 every 24 hours per invite code) and the count survives a page reload.
4. **Genera** (Generate) produces **6 proposals**: 3 with the business name written in the logo and 3 with the symbol only. To have the name in the first three, the **Nome attività** (Business name) field must be filled in before generating.
5. Click the proposal you choose: it becomes the logo and the others are discarded.

The description is checked before generation: obscene, violent, hateful and illegal content is rejected, as are requests to copy the trademark of another recognisable company.

To go back to the text box from the grid of proposals there is the eraser icon «Torna alla schermata originale» (Back to the original screen); a new **Genera** uses up another generation.

## Business name

Compulsory field, up to 100 characters. It is filled in from the company name and can be edited.

## VAT regime

The field changes depending on the choice.

- At the start **Regime Forfettario** (Flat-rate regime) appears with a **Sì / No** (Yes / No) switch.
  - **Sì**: the business is in the flat-rate regime.
  - **No**: the label becomes **Liquidazione IVA** (VAT settlement) and a menu appears with **Mensile** (Monthly) and **Trimestrale** (Quarterly): one of the two must be chosen.
- The field is compulsory.

> **Warning.** After pressing **No** there is no button to go back to **Sì**. If the choice is wrong, reload the page and re-enter the VAT number: the data already saved is recovered. To change the regime later you have to contact support (see [Tax configuration](https://narciso.io/en/docs/configurazione-fiscale/)).

If the regime is given here, the tax configuration screen does not appear at first login.

## Locations

The fields **Sede/i (indirizzo)** (Location(s) (address)), **Email di contatto** (Contact email), **Telefono aziendale** (Business phone), **Pagina Instagram** (Instagram page), **Pagina Facebook** (Facebook page) and **Sito web** (Website) are **per location**. To the left of each one there is a **Sede N** (Location N) button that opens the list **Sede 1, Sede 2, ...**, with a preview of the value («(vuoto)» (empty) if not filled in).

- Choosing an item changes the location **only in that field**.
- The bin next to each location, except the first, deletes it. **Location 1 cannot be deleted.**
- **+ Aggiungi Sede** (Add location) creates a new empty location.

**Location 1 is the main location**: its data is also the business's contacts. In the management program the locations are called «Sede principale» (Main location), «Sede 2», «Sede 3» and can be renamed later (see [Locations map and active location](https://narciso.io/en/docs/mappa-sedi/)).

### Location address

The address is not compulsory, but **if you write one it must be chosen from the list of suggestions**: from 3 characters on a list of suggestions appears (the search is limited to Italy) and clicking an item inserts the address with the coordinates for the location map. An address typed by hand and not chosen from the list is not valid. Even addresses filled in from the business register may need to be chosen again from the list.

On pressing **AVANTI** (Next) an invalid address produces «Sede N: seleziona l'indirizzo dall'elenco dei suggerimenti (scritto a mano non è valido).» (Location N: select the address from the list of suggestions (typed by hand is not valid).). If a location is not needed (for example it was offered by the registry extract but is no longer active), delete it or empty the address.

## Contacts and social media

## The AVANTI button

The checks happen in the following order and stop at the first one that fails. Missing fields are highlighted in red.

1. Missing compulsory fields: `Il campo "Nome attività" è obbligatorio.` (The "Business name" field is compulsory.) or «I seguenti campi sono obbligatori: Logo aziendale, Nome attività.» (The following fields are compulsory: Company logo, Business name.).
2. «Impossibile proseguire: la Partita IVA inserita non è valida.» (Unable to continue: the VAT number entered is not valid.)
3. «L'indirizzo Email di contatto non è formalmente valido.» (The contact email address is not formally valid.)
4. «Sede N: seleziona l'indirizzo dall'elenco dei suggerimenti (scritto a mano non è valido).»
5. «L'indirizzo PEC inserito non è formalmente valido.» (The PEC address entered is not formally valid.)
6. «Il numero di Telefono inserito non è formalmente valido per il paese selezionato.» (The phone number entered is not formally valid for the selected country.)

If everything is correct the data is saved («Configurazione in corso...» (Setting up...)) and you move on to step 2. At this point the business is saved with the data of location 1; the other locations are created only at the end of step 3. The possible saving errors are «Validazione fallita» (Validation failed) (a value exceeds the limits, for example a name over 100 characters) and «Errore durante il salvataggio dello Step 1» (Error while saving Step 1) (try again).
