# Tax configuration

> The question about the VAT regime that appears only once at first login, if it was not already filled in during registration, and what the answer is used for.

The **tax configuration** is a screen that asks how the business settles VAT. It is used to generate the VAT deadlines automatically in the Scadenzario (payment schedule) (see [Payment schedule](https://narciso.io/en/docs/scadenzario/)).

## When it appears

After logging in, if the VAT regime has not yet been given for the business, this screen appears in place of the calendar. It cannot be closed or skipped: you must answer.

- It appears **only once per business**.
- It does not appear if the regime was already given during registration (see [Business set-up](https://narciso.io/en/docs/configurazione-attivita/)).
- It appears to **whoever** logs in first, whatever their role, but **only the Titolare** (owner) can answer. If a Responsabile (manager) or an Operatore (operator) sees it, the Titolare must first log in and answer; until they do, every attempt shows «Operazione riservata al Titolare.» (Operation reserved for the Titolare.) ## What you see

The title is «Un'ultima cosa: il tuo regime IVA» (One last thing: your VAT regime). The text says: «Ci serve per generare automaticamente nello Scadenzario le scadenze IVA senza che tu debba inserirle a mano ogni volta. Te lo chiediamo una sola volta.» (We need it to automatically generate the VAT deadlines in the Scadenzario so that you do not have to enter them by hand every time. We ask you only once.)

To the question **«Come liquidi l'IVA?»** (How do you settle VAT?) you answer with a single choice among three buttons; the one chosen turns dark.

| Choice | Meaning |
|---|---|
| **Mensile** (Monthly) | VAT is settled every month |
| **Trimestrale** (Quarterly) | VAT is settled every quarter |
| **Regime forfettario** (Flat-rate regime) («nessuna liquidazione IVA» (no VAT settlement)) | VAT is not settled |

Under the buttons a note reminds you: «Se non sei sicuro, chiedi al tuo commercialista prima di continuare: per modificarlo in seguito dovrai contattare l'assistenza.» (If you are not sure, ask your accountant before continuing: to change it later you will have to contact support.)

The **Continua** (Continue) button stays off until you choose and shows a spinning circle while saving. If there are problems a red box appears with the message received or «Errore durante il salvataggio, riprova.» (Error while saving, try again.): you can try again.

## What the answer is used for

- It generates the VAT deadlines in the Scadenzario.
- For those in the flat-rate regime, the Cassa handles payments without VAT.

> **Warning.** After saving, the choice **cannot be changed from the program**. Support is needed to correct it (see [Support](https://narciso.io/en/docs/assistenza/)). If in doubt, ask your accountant first.
