# Locations map and active location

> The satellite map with all the business's locations: how to open it, how to read each location's card, how to change the location you work in, and how the Titolare switches a location on or off.

A business can have several locations. The **locations map** shows them all on a satellite map, with today's figures, and is used for two things: **changing the location you work in** and **switching a location on or off**. The location you work in is called the **active location** and decides which data you see: team members, shifts, attendance and the tasks of the [Secretariat](https://narciso.io/en/docs/segreteria/) are always those of the active location.

## Who can use it and how to open it

The map is reserved to **Titolare** (owner) and **Responsabile** (manager). For the Operatore (operator) the address is not clickable and the page cannot be reached: if they get there with an address typed by hand, they are taken back to the home page.

To open it, click the **address of the active location**, written in amber under the business name, at the top left of the side menu (see [Side menu](https://narciso.io/en/docs/menu-laterale/)). There is no dedicated entry in the menu groups.

The page opens **full screen, without the side menu** and has no «Indietro» (Back) button. To leave, click the pin of the current location, which takes you back to the home page, or use the browser's "back" button.

## The map

- **Background**: satellite images. At first the view starts from Italy, then adjusts by itself to show all the locations; with a single location it centres on it.
- **Zoom**: **+** and **−** buttons, mouse wheel, double click or pinch on touch screens. There is a minimum level beyond which you cannot zoom out and a maximum zoom-in level.
- **Moving**: drag the map holding down the left button.
- **Credits**: the small circle **©** at the top right shows, when you hover over it, where the images come from.
- **Routes**: between consecutive locations, in the order in which they were created, a light blue line appears with the road distance halfway along it (for example «12,4 km»). If the routes service does not respond the map works anyway, without lines.
- **Locations without a position**: only the locations whose position Narciso knows appear on the map. A location without a valid address is not shown.

While loading, the page shows a grey veil. If the locations do not load, a red box «Impossibile caricare le sedi.» (Unable to load the locations.) appears at the top.

## The pins

Each location is a drop-shaped marker with the **business logo** inside (an «S» if there is none). The colour of the border shows the status:

| Light grey and faded | Disabled location |

When you hold the mouse over the pin, it grows slightly and the **location's card** appears above it. The card stays open as long as the mouse is on the pin or on the card, so you can read it at leisure.

**With the zoom close** (from a certain level of zoom-in onwards) the pin disappears and the card stays **always open**, with a red dot showing the exact point of the location. A click on the card has the same effect as a click on the pin.

## The location's card

The three counters are read **when you open the map** and do not update by themselves: to update them, reload the page.

> **Warning.** A click anywhere on the card, **except the switch and the copy icon**, is the same as entering the location. To read the card, just hold the mouse over it, without clicking.

## Changing location

Click the **pin** (or the card, if the zoom is close):

| It is the location you are already working in | You go back to the home page, without changing anything |
| It is another active location | «Cambio sede…» (Changing location…) appears, Narciso changes location and **reloads everything**: data, permissions and screens start again from the new location. At the end you arrive at the home page |
| The location is deactivated | The red box «Questa sede è disattivata: riattivala per entrarci.» (This location is deactivated: reactivate it to enter.) appears at the top and you do not enter |
| The change does not succeed | Red box with Narciso's message, or «Impossibile cambiare sede.» (Unable to change location.) |

The red box closes with the small **X**.

The change applies to the **browser tab** in which you make it: another tab already open stays in its location, while a new tab starts again from the last location chosen.

## Switching a location on or off

**Only the Titolare** can do it. For the others the switch is faded, the hint is «Solo il Titolare può attivare o disattivare la sede» (Only the Titolare can switch the location on or off) and the click does nothing.

**What deactivating means.** Whoever works in that location can no longer access it until it is reactivated. Deactivation takes effect immediately: at the next request, whoever works in that location reads «Sede non disponibile. Contattare l'amministratore.» (Location not available. Contact the administrator.)

**Procedure**

1. Hold the mouse over the pin (or zoom in close) to make the card appear.
2. Press the **switch** (hint «Disattiva sede» (Deactivate location) or «Attiva sede» (Activate location)).
3. The confirmation window appears, **«Disattivare la sede?»** (Deactivate the location?) or **«Riattivare la sede?»** (Reactivate the location?), which explains the consequences and asks: «Inserisci la tua password per confermare.» (Enter your password to confirm.)
4. Write **your own password** (the cursor is already in the field) and press **Disattiva** (Deactivate) or **Riattiva** (Reactivate), or **Invio** (Enter).
5. When the operation succeeds the window closes and the switch, the label and the colour of the pin change at once.

**Annulla** (Cancel), a click on the dark background or closing the window while the operation is not under way leave everything as it was.

Red messages under the password field:

| «Non puoi disattivare la sede su cui stai lavorando: passa prima a un'altra sede.» (You cannot deactivate the location you are working in: switch to another location first.) | To deactivate the location in use, change location first |
| «Deve restare almeno una sede attiva.» (At least one location must stay active.) | The last active location cannot be deactivated |
| «Solo il Titolare può attivare o disattivare una sede.» (Only the Titolare can activate or deactivate a location.) | The user is not the Titolare |

## Common problems
