# Editing and deleting an appointment

> How to change the client, services, time or specialist of an existing appointment, when the Save button is disabled and how to delete it permanently.

The **Modifica Appuntamento** (Edit Appointment) window is the same as [New appointment](https://narciso.io/en/docs/nuovo-appuntamento/), with the appointment's data already filled in. At the top right there are the red **bin** (delete), **Salva** (Save) (floppy-disk icon) and **X** (close).

## How to open it

1. Click the appointment's card in the **Agenda**: the card opens (see [Appointment card](https://narciso.io/en/docs/scheda-appuntamento/)).
2. Press **Modifica**: the card widens with an animation and becomes the **Modifica Appuntamento** window, with client, services and products (with quantities), day, time, workstation and home visit already filled in.

## How to edit

1. Change what you need. In the calculation of free days, times and specialists, **the appointment itself does not count as busy**: you can therefore keep or propose the same time again. The previous specialist and time stay proposed if still valid.
2. Press **Salva**. The checks and messages are the same as for creation (see [New appointment](https://narciso.io/en/docs/nuovo-appuntamento/)). If all goes well, «Appuntamento modificato con successo» (Appointment edited successfully) appears and the window closes.

The **Salva** button is **grey and cannot be clicked** until something has been changed (client, services, quantity, day, time, specialist, home visit or workstation) **and** the appointment's time is in the **future**.

### Good to know

- **Saving a change puts the appointment back to the «In attesa» (Pending) status**, even if it was Confermato (Confirmed): the status is confirmed again from the card.
- The **price is recalculated from the price list** in force: a different price set by hand elsewhere is overwritten.
- **Past appointments** can be opened and, if not paid, deleted, but changes cannot be saved: a future time is needed.
- If a colleague edits the same appointment while you are editing it, saving is refused with the message «Questo elemento è stato modificato da un altro utente mentre lo modificavi. Chiudi e riapri la scheda per vedere le modifiche, poi rifai le tue.» (This item was modified by another user while you were editing it. Close and reopen the card to see the changes, then redo yours.).
- Workstations already assigned are preselected in their groups: even just changing the workstation enables **Salva**.

### Appointment already paid

An appointment that has been **paid** in the Cassa (with a sale recorded) cannot be edited or deleted: Narciso shows «Questo appuntamento è già stato incassato: non si può più modificare. Per correggerlo elimina prima la vendita in Cassa.» (This appointment has already been paid: it can no longer be edited. To correct it, first delete the sale in the Cassa.). Once the sale in the Cassa is deleted (see [Cash desk](https://narciso.io/en/docs/cassa/)), the appointment goes back to **Confermato** and can be edited.

## Deleting an appointment

1. In the **Modifica Appuntamento** window press the red **bin**. The **Annulla** (Cancel) button on the card, on the other hand, does not delete: it puts the appointment into the Annullato (Cancelled) status (see [Appointment card](https://narciso.io/en/docs/scheda-appuntamento/)).
2. The **Conferma Eliminazione** (Confirm Deletion) window appears: «Sei sicuro di voler eliminare questo appuntamento?» (Are you sure you want to delete this appointment?), with the **Annulla** and **Elimina** (Delete) buttons. The **Esc** key is the same as Annulla, the **Invio** (Enter) key the same as **Elimina**: pressing Invio deletes straight away.
3. With **Elimina** the appointment is erased: it disappears from the calendar, **cannot be restored** and the reserved products become available again. «Appuntamento eliminato» (Appointment deleted) appears. If there are problems, «Errore durante l'eliminazione» (Error while deleting) appears.

An appointment that has already been paid cannot be deleted: first delete the sale in the Cassa. From the Modifica window in that case only the generic message «Errore durante l'eliminazione» appears.

## Common problems

| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| The Salva button is grey | Nothing has been changed, or the appointment is in the past |
| After pressing Annulla the appointment is still in the calendar with the red X | This is correct: Annulla puts it into the Annullato status. To really erase it use Modifica ▸ bin; to reactivate it press In attesa or Confermato on the card |
| The window was closed by mistake | The data you entered is lost: reopen the appointment and make the change again |
| «Questo appuntamento è già stato incassato…» (This appointment has already been paid…) | First delete the sale in the Cassa |
