# Designer side panels

> The nine panels in the Designer's left-hand column (Tool, Livelli, Modelli, Immagini, Testo, Simboli, Citazioni, Sfondo, Meme): what they contain and how to use them.

To the left of the editor ([Designer](https://narciso.io/en/docs/designer/)) there is a column with **nine buttons**: **Tool**, **Livelli** (Layers), **Modelli** (Templates), **Immagini** (Images), **Testo** (Text), **Simboli** (Symbols), **Citazioni** (Quotes), **Sfondo** (Background), **Meme**. Each opens a panel 320 pixels wide next to the [The canvas](https://narciso.io/en/docs/tela/) (canvas). When you open the editor, **Livelli** is open; a click on the button that is already active closes the panel (the canvas widens). When you **select an element** on the canvas the panel switches by itself to **Tool**.

## Tool panel: the selected element's properties

With no selection: **Nessun elemento — Seleziona un elemento per vedere qui le sue caratteristiche e modificarle** (No element — Select an element to see its properties here and edit them). With a selection only the blocks suited to the type of element appear. Blocks with an arrow open and close with a click.

Opacity, shadow and filters apply to **all** selected elements.

## Livelli panel

The list of elements **from top to bottom**: what is at the top of the list is in front on the canvas. With several boards the rows are grouped under **Pagina 1** (Page 1), **Pagina 2**… (one click = **Vai a questa pagina** (Go to this page)) and each board has the **Sfondo Pagina** (Page background) row at the top.

- A click on a row selects the element. To **reorder** or move to another board you drag, holding down for about 0.3 seconds before moving.
- When you hold the mouse over a row, **Blocca / Sblocca** (Lock / Unlock) (padlock) and **Nascondi / Mostra** (Hide / Show) (eye) appear. A **hidden** element cannot be seen and **is not exported**; a **locked** one can no longer be moved.
- Groups have an arrow to open and close them.
- At the bottom, with an element selected, a small box appears with the opacity slider (the labels are in English: **Properties** and **Opacity**).

## Modelli panel

Two icons at the top right: **Personali** (Personal) and **Libreria** (Library) (the title shows **Personali** or **Creator's**).

- **Personali** — **your templates**, in a two-column grid. The dashed box **Crea** (Create) saves **this job as a template** (if the job has not been saved yet it saves it first). Notifications: **Modello salvato** (Template saved), **Modello aggiornato** (Template updated), **Errore durante il salvataggio del modello** (Error while saving the template). If you edit the job after creating its template, **Aggiorna** (Update) appears, which overwrites the template with the current state. With no templates: «Non hai ancora nessun modello. Clicca su "Crea"…» (You do not have any templates yet. Click "Crea"…). Templates follow the **location** and arrive in blocks of 24 as you scroll. A click applies the template to the open canvas.
- **Libreria (Creator's)** — ready-made templates from an external catalogue. A click (or dragging onto the canvas) applies them to the already open canvas, which **keeps the chosen size**: it is the template that adapts. If the business's **logo** was chosen during setup ([Company palette and fonts](https://narciso.io/en/docs/identita-visiva/)), in the templates the salon's logo takes the place of the **Logo** placeholder. **Animated** templates (video) are not accepted: **Questo modello è un template animato (video ad) e non è compatibile con l'editor statico: scegline un altro dai "Modelli".** (This template is an animated template (video ad) and is not compatible with the static editor: choose another one from the "Modelli".)

> **Warning.** Applying a template **replaces the whole content** of the job: the elements already there disappear (you can recover them with **Ctrl+Z**). It should be done straight away, on an empty canvas. On business cards, flyers and posters it is better **not** to apply templates: the boards are replaced and the bleed and the Fronte/Retro names may be lost ([Print formats](https://narciso.io/en/docs/formati-di-stampa/)).

## Immagini panel

Three icons at the top right: **Personali**, **Libreria** and **AI**.

- **Personali** — **your uploaded files**: photos, SVG, video and audio. **Cerca immagini...** bar (filters by name). With no files: **Nessun file personale — Trascina o clicca qui per caricare i tuoi contenuti** (No personal files — Drag or click here to upload your content). The **Carica file** (Upload file) button also accepts several files together and you can also **drag** them onto the panel. A click on a file adds it to the canvas. Formats: **JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG**, video **MP4/WebM/MOV**, audio **MP3/WAV/OGG**, **maximum 50 MB** per file ([File formats and sizes](https://narciso.io/en/docs/file-formati-e-dimensioni/)). Files follow the location. After an upload it is worth checking that the file appears in the list.
- **Libreria** — free photos from **Unsplash** with a search box; a click adds the photo, with the credit **Foto di …** (Photo by …) under each photo.
- **AI** — images generated with artificial intelligence: see [Images with artificial intelligence](https://narciso.io/en/docs/immagini-con-ai/).

The **bin** on a personal file (and on an AI creation) deletes it **immediately, without asking for confirmation**, and removes it from the server: the jobs that use it lose that image.

A photo **dragged from the computer directly onto the canvas** is put in its place straight away and uploaded in parallel among your files. If the upload fails: **Una foto trascinata non è stata salvata sul server: sparirà se ricarichi la pagina prima di ritrascinarla.** (A dragged photo was not saved on the server: it will disappear if you reload the page before dragging it again.)

## Testo panel

- Three boxes **H1 Titolo** (Title), **H2 Sottotitolo** (Subtitle), **H3 Corpo testo** (Body text): a click adds the text in the centre, already in edit mode. The size adapts to the size of the canvas.
- Below, the ready-made text **Modelli** (templates), which are inserted as a **group** (which can be split with **Separa** (Split)).
- **I miei caratteri** (My typefaces): the list of uploaded fonts. **Carica carattere** (Upload typeface) opens a **.ttf, .otf, .woff, .woff2, .eot** file; a click on the typeface adds a text with that font; the bin **Rimuovi** (Remove) removes it and the texts that use it go back to **Roboto**. With no fonts: **Nessun font personale** (No personal fonts). Uploaded typefaces are saved inside the job: very heavy files can make you exceed the save limit, so **.woff2** is advisable.
- Shortcut **T**: adds a text in the centre.

## Simboli panel

Two icons: **Forme** (Shapes) and **Icone** (Icons).

- **Forme** — search box, also in Italian (cerchio, stella, cuore, freccia, cornice, fumetto, nuvola… i.e. circle, star, heart, arrow, frame, speech bubble, cloud…), **Linee** (Lines) and **Forme** sections. A click (or dragging) inserts them, in grey. Shortcut **R**: black rectangle.
- **Icone** — catalogue of vector icons with search in Italian. A click adds the icon. If you have selected an image first, the icon becomes **its mask**.

## Citazioni panel

**Cerca citazione o autore...** (Search quote or author...) box and a scrolling list (20 at a time) of quotes with author and source; with no search, random quotes appear. **Visualizza di più / Mostra meno** (Show more / Show less) expands long text. A click adds the quote and, below it, the author aligned to the right; the colour adapts to the background (dark on white, white on anything else). With no results: **Nessun risultato trovato** (No results found).

## Sfondo panel

- **Tinta unita** (Solid colour) — 12 quick colours and the dashed **?** button (**Colore Personalizzato (Uniforme o Sfumato)** (Custom Colour (Uniform or Gradient))), with the **Uniforme** (Uniform) (colour code) and **Sfumato** (Gradient) (**Colore 1**, **Colore 2**, **Angolo** (Angle)) tabs.
- **Grafiche** (Graphics) — photos and textures from Unsplash with search; a click uses them as the background.

The background applies to the **active board only**.

## Meme panel

The **Cerca meme...** (Search memes...) search on a catalogue of meme templates. A click adds the meme in the centre (half the width of the canvas). The **i** icon opens **Esempi di utilizzo** (Usage examples) with example photos. With no results: **Nessun meme trovato** (No memes found).

> **Note.** Searches for photos and icons and the Creator's templates go through external services: if they do not respond the related panels stay empty, while quotes and memes are Narciso archives ([External services](https://narciso.io/en/docs/servizi-esterni/)).
