# Pinterest

> How to connect Pinterest from Social media, how a Pin is published (a single image, title, description, board), duration and renewal of access, what you see of a Pin and how to delete it.

## What it does and what it requires

Pinterest lets Narciso **publish single-image Pins**, **import** the last 50 Pins, show **saves and views** of the imported Pins and **delete** a published Pin. It is connected **only** from **Social media ▸ Collegamenti ▸ Pinterest** and you need your own Pinterest account (personal or business). The permissions requested are: read and write boards, read and write Pins, read account data.

## Connecting Pinterest

1. **Social media ▸ Collegamenti** ([Connecting social accounts](https://narciso.io/en/docs/collegare-account-social/)).
2. Click on the **Pinterest** card.
3. «Collega Pinterest» (Connect Pinterest) appears with «Continua sulla pagina ufficiale di Pinterest» (Continue on the official Pinterest page) and, below, «Completa l'accesso nella finestra appena aperta. Questa schermata si aggiornerà automaticamente.» (Complete the login in the window that has just opened. This screen will update automatically.) A **separate window** opens on Pinterest's site.
4. In the window you log in and press **Consenti** (Allow).
5. The window returns to Narciso; the screen shows «Salvataggio collegamento…» (Saving connection…) and then the notification «Account Pinterest collegato con successo» (Pinterest account connected successfully). The card has the green dot.

Unlike the other channels there is **no final choice with «Continua»**: the account you logged in with is connected directly. Narciso keeps the username, the account identifier and an access with an expiry; it **does not show the profile photo** (the calendar shows the initial).

The buttons at the bottom are **Annulla** (Cancel) (while waiting) and **Chiudi** (Close) (after an error).

## How a Pin is published

- **A single Pin with only the first image** of the content is published. A carousel becomes the Pin of the first image; a **video does not work** on Pinterest (it is treated as an image and Pinterest rejects it with an error).
- **Title:** the first **100 letters** of the caption (there is no title field). If the caption is empty: «Nuovo Pin Narciso» (New Narciso Pin). If the Pin comes from «Condividi post» (Share post), the title is the **name of the account** it was shared from: to get the title from the caption, schedule from [New post](https://narciso.io/en/docs/nuovo-post/).
- **Description:** the caption, up to **800 characters** (the rest is cut).
- No **destination link** is added to the Pin.
- The **Storia** (Story) format is ignored.

## The board

You do not choose the board. Narciso uses the one **saved** for the account; if there is none, the account's **first board**. If the account has none, it creates a **public one called «Narciso»** (description «Bacheca ufficiale salone» (Official salon board)) and from then on always uses that one. To change a Pin's board, use the Pinterest app.

## Duration of access and renewal

Pinterest grants Narciso an access that **expires** (on average after about a month) and a longer renewal one. Narciso **renews it by itself**: a check every hour renews the Pinterest accesses in the 3 days before expiry. If the renewal fails (for example the permissions were revoked by Pinterest) the account is deactivated, the card goes grey again and a task to reconnect is created in Segreteria (Secretariat) ([When a link breaks on its own](https://narciso.io/en/docs/collegamento-interrotto/)). You reconnect with **Collegamenti ▸ Pinterest ▸ Ricollega** (Reconnect).

## What you see of a Pin

An imported or published Pin shows on its card the **saves** (in place of likes), the **comments** and the **views** (if Pinterest supplies them; they may stay at zero). There is no flame, no viewable comments and no account statistics ([Social media statistics](https://narciso.io/en/docs/statistiche-social/)): hovering over the flame you read «Analytics non disponibili per questo post.» (Analytics not available for this post.)

## Deleting a Pin and disconnecting

**Elimina post** (Delete post) on a published Pin opens «Eliminare da Pinterest?» (Delete from Pinterest?) and removes it **from Pinterest and from Narciso**. If Pinterest does not allow it nothing is deleted: «Impossibile eliminare il post.» (Unable to delete the post.) and the Pin stays in the calendar and online ([Editorial plan](https://narciso.io/en/docs/piano-editoriale/)). When you disconnect, all the Pins disappear from the plan but are **not** deleted from Pinterest ([Connecting social accounts](https://narciso.io/en/docs/collegare-account-social/)).
