# Recording the screen

> The button with the red dot in the Designer bar: it records a video of the editor tab; what you need, how to stop it and what happens to the video.

In the top bar of the [Designer](https://narciso.io/en/docs/designer/), the small square button with a **red dot** (**Registra lo schermo**, Record the screen) starts a **video recording of the editor tab**.

1. Press the button: the browser asks for permission to share the tab. It works best on **Chrome**, with audio if available.
2. During recording the dot turns into a **pulsing red square** (**Interrompi e salva**, Stop and save).
3. Press the button again, or stop sharing from the browser, to stop. The video (**webm** format) is uploaded and **Registrazione salvata** (Recording saved) appears. While it uploads, the button shows a spinning circle.

Messages: **Registrazione non salvata: …** (Recording not saved: …) if saving fails; **Il tuo browser non supporta la registrazione schermo** (Your browser does not support screen recording) if the browser does not allow it (you need a recent browser on a computer, see [Device requirements](https://narciso.io/en/docs/requisiti-del-dispositivo/)).

> **Note.** The video **does not appear in any library** of the application: after saving there is no list to review or download it. To get a recording back, write to [Support](https://narciso.io/en/docs/assistenza/). It is best to avoid sensitive data on screen while recording.
