> How Narciso publishes on TikTok (videos and photos), the title and description limits, the «solo io» (only me) visibility in test mode, what «published» means, how long access lasts and what is not there.

Connecting the TikTok account is covered in [TikTok (linking)](https://narciso.io/en/docs/tiktok-canale/). This entry describes what concerns **publishing**.

## What you need

A TikTok account that you sign in with on the official page. Narciso asks TikTok for three permissions: basic profile information, publishing videos and uploading videos.

## How it is published

Narciso does not upload the files itself: it asks TikTok to **download them from the public address** where they are stored. Two cases:

| Type | Text | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| **Video** | The **title** is the caption, cut to **150 characters** | A single video (the first) |
| **Photo / photo carousel** | **Title** = the post's title (normally empty, so the caption) cut to **90 characters**; **description** = the caption up to **2000 characters** | Up to **35 images**; the first is the cover |

Fixed settings: **comments allowed**; for videos also **duet** and **stitch** allowed. The **Storia** (Story) format is ignored. For TikTok photos shared with «Condividi post» (Share post), too, the title is the account name and not the caption.

**Who can see the video.** Narciso first tries **public** publishing. If TikTok replies that the app does not yet have final approval to publish publicly (test mode) or refuses public visibility, it **automatically tries again with «solo io» (only me) visibility**. In that case the video shows as **published** in Narciso but on TikTok **only the account owner can see it**.

## What «published» means

Narciso marks the post as **published** as soon as TikTok **accepts the request**; it does not wait for TikTok to finish processing the video nor does it check the outcome. The post's address is that of the **profile page**, not of the individual video. If the video does not appear on TikTok or is rejected after acceptance, Narciso does not report it as an error. Automatic synchronisation then imports the profile's **latest 20 videos** with likes, comments, shares and views (one cover per video).

## How long access lasts

The access granted to Narciso lasts **24 hours**; Narciso **renews it by itself every hour** before it expires. If renewal fails (for example access was revoked by TikTok) the account shows as disconnected (grey card). It is reconnected with **Collegamenti ▸ TikTok ▸ Ricollega** (Connections ▸ TikTok ▸ Reconnect) ([When a link breaks on its own](https://narciso.io/en/docs/collegamento-interrotto/)).

## Deleting a TikTok post

A post **already published** on TikTok **cannot be deleted from Narciso** (the «Elimina post» (Delete post) entry is grey): it has to be deleted from the TikTok app and at the next synchronisation it disappears from the calendar too. A **scheduled** post or one **in error** is deleted normally ([Editorial plan](https://narciso.io/en/docs/piano-editoriale/)).

## What is not there

No flame and no page statistics for TikTok; a click on the number of comments opens nothing (comments cannot be read from Narciso); the account's name and photo cannot be changed from here («Modifica su TikTok» (Edit on TikTok) opens the settings on TikTok's website). If TikTok refuses publishing, «TikTok API [codice]: …» (TikTok API [code]: …) appears ([Post publishing](https://narciso.io/en/docs/pubblicazione-dei-post/)).
