Barcode reader

Translated from the Italian guide. Narciso itself is in Italian, so the names of buttons, menus and fields are shown exactly as they appear on screen, with a translation in brackets where it helps.
The barcode reader (desktop or «gun») is connected to the location's Narciso Hub. Reading a code does not «type» into the fields like a keyboard: it reaches the program through the Hub and is interpreted according to the mode the reader is in. What the Hub is and how the readers are controlled is explained in Connectable devices.

The modes#

Each reader (desktop and gun) has its own mode. When it changes, a notice such as «Pistola Barcode - Modalità attivata: Cassa» (Barcode Gun - Mode activated: Cassa) appears for 5 seconds.
Aggiungi veloce and Rimuovi veloce#
The product is searched for in the Hub's location with the identical code. The two modes change the stock directly, even if no product page is open.

The reader in the Cassa#
With the reader in Cassa mode, every code read adds the matching product to the receipt of the Cash desk. The reader adds only products with a code, never services.

In the last case the side menu opens by itself, switches the reader to Cassa mode and, once the operation is finished, adds the code that was waiting.
If the Hub or the reader is missing#

Without a reader#
A reader connected directly to the computer, without a Hub, behaves like a keyboard: it types the code into the selected field. It does not activate the modes described here. In the Cassa, products are added with a click on the list.
