Data tables

Last updated:

Translated from the Italian guide. Narciso itself is in Italian, so the names of buttons, menus and fields are shown exactly as they appear on screen, with a translation in brackets where it helps.

Many lists in Narciso (the clients, the transaction history and others) use the same tool, which looks like a spreadsheet. This entry describes it once only; the entries for the individual pages (Clients, Transaction history) indicate only what changes from one table to another.

The areas of the screen#

  1. Toolbar, at the top, in light grey: on the left the word TOOLBAR, on the right the buttons.
  2. Grid, in the middle: the header row stays fixed when you scroll vertically, the column of row numbers stays fixed when you scroll horizontally.
  3. Footer, at the bottom: the green word Pronto (Ready) and Totale record: N (Total records: N).
  4. Tool panel, which slides in from the right when you press Visibilità (Visibility).

Below the data the grid is completed with numbered empty rows up to 50 rows in all: they only give the look of a spreadsheet and are not records. The row number on the left shows the position in the list, it is not a record code.

The toolbar buttons#

The buttons appear only when needed. From left to right:

Button When it appears What it does
Unisci (Merge) Only in the Anagrafica clienti (client records), with two or more rows selected Opens the procedure for merging records (see Merging client records)
Rimuovi (Remove) (red) With at least one row selected Deletes the selected rows, after a confirmation. Only in tables where deletion is provided
Aggiungi (Add) (green plus) With no row selected, in tables that allow adding Opens the choice between «Importa esistenti» (Import existing) and «Crea da zero» (Create from scratch)
Ricerca (Search) (magnifying glass) Always Turns the bar into a search field
Modifica (Edit) (pencil) With a single row selected, in tables that allow editing Opens the record of the selected row
Esporta (Export) (down arrow) Always Opens the menu of export formats
Visibilità (cogwheel) Always Opens the Tool panel

With two or more rows selected the Modifica button disappears. With no row selected Modifica does nothing: to edit, first select a row with a click.

In the Storico transazioni there is no Aggiungi, Modifica or Unisci: rows are selected only to export some of them, and the Rimuovi button, if it appears, does not delete anything.

Search#

  1. Press Ricerca: the bar becomes a text field, with the table's hint (for example «Cerca per nome, azienda…» (Search by name, company…)) and two buttons: INVIO (Enter) (green) and an X («Annulla ricerca», Cancel search).
  2. Type. The search starts by itself when you pause for a moment (about a third of a second), without pressing anything. A single character that is not a digit is not searched for: at least two letters are needed; a number counts even with one digit. The text searched for can be up to 100 characters.
  3. With several words, each word must appear in at least one of the fields searched: «mario ros» finds Mario Rossi. Upper and lower case do not matter.
  4. While the results arrive the table shows grey rows in place of the data. Totale record shows how many records match in all, including those not yet scrolled to.
  5. To close the field leaving the filter active, press INVIO (the green button). To remove the filter, press the X: it closes the field and clears the text.

Every time the text searched for changes, the row selection is cleared.

If the search is too slow, a line with the reason and the Riprova (Try again) button appears at the bottom of the table («La ricerca è troppo lenta: restringila e riprova», The search is too slow: narrow it down and try again): it is best to type more letters and try again.

What each table searches is described in its own entry.

Rows and selection#

  • A click on a row selects it (yellow background); a second click deselects it. You can select several rows by clicking them one after another, without holding down any key.
  • There is no «select all» and no range selection.
  • Double click, right click, middle-wheel click and dragging rows have no particular effect.
  • There is no limit to the number of rows you can select.

Sorting#

You sort by clicking on the name of a column.

  • First click: ascending order (▲). Second click: descending (▼). Third click: the sorting on that column is removed.
  • You can sort by up to three columns together: they apply in the order in which they were clicked and a number (1, 2, 3) next to the arrow shows the priority. If you click a fourth column, the oldest of the three is removed.
  • The sorted column has a light-blue header with green text.
  • Columns that the program cannot sort show no arrow and clicking the header does nothing. The Storico transazioni sorts only by Data.
  • In block-loaded tables the sorting applies to all the records, not only those already scrolled to. With no sorting chosen the records run from the most recent to the oldest.
  • The sorting is not remembered: reloading the page starts again with no sorting.

How many records you see#

Block-loaded tables have no maximum number of rows. Rows arrive in blocks as you scroll down; at the bottom grey rows appear until the data arrives. Search, sorting and export work on all the records, not only the ones already visible.

If another colleague or another device changes the data, the list updates by itself; the selection and the search stay. If a block does not arrive (network or search too slow), a line with the reason appears at the bottom (for example «Non è stato possibile caricare i clienti.» (The clients could not be loaded.)) and the Riprova button; until you press it, the table does not ask for more data.

If there are no records you see only the numbered empty rows and «Totale record: 0»: the tables do not show a «no results» message.

Width and scrolling#

  • Width of a column: drag the right edge of the header (the cursor becomes a double arrow and the edge turns green). The minimum width is 50 pixels.
  • Mouse wheel: scrolls vertically. Ctrl + wheel: scrolls horizontally, useful for tables with many columns such as the Anagrafica clienti.

Copying the content of a cell#

When you hover the mouse over a cell that has content, a small copy icon appears on the right (tooltip «Copia», Copy). A click copies the text to the clipboard in the form «Column name: value» and the green notification Copiato: "Nome colonna: valore" (Copied: "Column name: value") appears. Clicking the icon does not select the row.

The icon does not appear in empty cells and in some columns, for example those with the photo or the status and those that combine several pieces of information.

The explanation of the columns#

Next to the name of almost every column there is a small circled i. A click opens a bubble titled Spiegazione (Explanation), with a sentence describing the column and, when there is one, an Esempio: (Example:) box. It closes by clicking elsewhere or by clicking the i again.

The Tool panel#

Visibilità opens from the right a white panel titled Tool. It closes only with the red X at the top right (not with Esc nor by clicking outside the panel). It contains two settings.

Font size#

Two buttons − and + on either side of the current number. The font goes from 8 to 20 (default 12), one point at a time. The small blue i explains: «Regola la grandezza del testo per migliorare la leggibilità all'interno della tabella.» (Adjust the size of the text to improve readability inside the table.)

Visibility and order of the columns#

A list with all the columns, each with a six-dot handle on the left, the name and the icon of an eye on the right.

  • A click on the eye hides the column («Nascondi colonna», Hide column) or shows it again («Mostra colonna», Show column). Hidden columns have their name in light grey.
  • Dragging a row of the list up or down changes the order of the columns in the table.

The order, width and visibility of the columns and the font size are saved on your own user after about a second and are found again at the next login, even from another computer. There is no button to restore the original settings: to go back to the initial situation you show the hidden columns again and set the order and widths back by hand.

Exporting the data#

The Esporta button offers four formats: EXCEL, CSV, JSON and PDF.

What is exported

  • If there are selected rows, only those.
  • If no row is selected, all the records that the table would show if you scrolled to the bottom, not only those already loaded.
  • The search and sorting in use also apply: with an active filter only the matching records come out.
  • The file contains only the visible columns, in the order chosen in the Tool panel. Hidden columns are not exported and there is no photo column.

The formats

Format What it is like
EXCEL An ordinary .xlsx file, which opens without warnings. Header row and one row per record. Amounts and points are numbers, so they can be added up
CSV The separator is the semicolon, so that Excel in Italian opens it already split into columns and with the accents correct
JSON A list with one object per record, with only the chosen columns. It is meant for technical uses
PDF An A4 landscape document with the table title and one row per record; the header repeats on every page and texts that are too long are truncated with dots

In the files, columns that in the table combine several pieces of information (for example first name and surname, or the list of services and products) are written out in full. The files are called, for example, clienti_2026-10-08.xlsx and storico_transazioni_2026-10-08.csv.

For block-loaded tables the file is prepared by the program and the download starts as soon as it is ready; there is no progress bar. If the preparation fails, the red notification «Esportazione non riuscita. Riprova tra qualche istante.» (Export unsuccessful. Try again in a few moments.) appears.

You can make at most 20 exports every 10 minutes per business; beyond that you have to wait. After you choose the format the Tool panel, if open, closes.

The table footer#

  • Pronto: it is always green and does not signal any other status.
  • Totale record: N: the number of all the records that match the search, including those not yet scrolled to. Before the first response it shows 0.

Common problems#

Situation What to do
Records that should be there are missing A search filter has stayed active: open Ricerca and press the X
Searching for a single letter finds nothing The program does not search for a single character: at least two letters are needed
«Modifica» does nothing No row is selected: click a row first
«Modifica» does not appear Two or more rows are selected: leave only one selected
A column does not appear It has been hidden: turn it back on from the Tool panel, with the eye icon
The exported file does not have all the columns Hidden columns are not exported: make them visible and export again
«Esportazione non riuscita» Try again after a few moments; the limit is 20 exports every 10 minutes
«Non è stato possibile caricare…» appears at the bottom of the table Press Riprova; with a search that is too general, narrow the text searched for
The table settings are different on another computer They are saved about a second after each change: repeat the setting and wait a moment before closing the page
