Side menu

The side menu (Menu laterale) is the dark bar on the left edge of the screen. It is present on all the working pages; the exceptions are the locations map, which takes up the whole screen (see Locations map and active location), and the Designer page when the editor is open. From here you reach all the pages, open the chat, switch on the radio, manage the barcode readers, ask for support and leave Narciso.

What it looks like#

From top to bottom:

1. Logo and business name, with the address of the location you are working in underneath.
2. Segreteria (Secretariat), a single entry just above the groups.
3. Three groups of entries that open and close: Strumenti di lavoro (Work tools), Vetrina digitale (Digital showcase), Scartoffie (Paperwork).
4. User bar at the bottom, with photo, name and role. Clicking it opens a shelf with six icons: Radio, Chat, Aiuto (Help), Lettori barcode (Barcode readers), Impostazioni (Settings), Esci (Log out).

The menu has a fixed width and resizes itself in proportion to the window: on large screens everything looks proportionally larger, in small windows smaller. There is no handle to widen or narrow it, and no button to reduce it to icons only.

Logo, name and location address#

When you hold the mouse over the address, the full address appears for a few moments, useful if it is truncated. For Titolare and Responsabile the text is underlined. A click on the address does not go to Appuntamenti, even though it sits inside the logo area.

Segreteria and groups of entries#

Segreteria is an entry on its own, with the headset icon (see Secretariat). When you are on the page, the icon turns orange and the text white.

The three groups work in the same way:

• A click on the group header opens or closes it (the small arrow on the right rotates).
• When you log in only Strumenti di lavoro is open; the other two are closed. The open or closed state is not remembered: each time the page loads it starts from here.
• You can keep several groups open together.
• The group containing the page you are on has an orange icon and a white name; the entry of the current page has a light amber background. The other entries are grey and get lighter when the mouse passes over them.

Useful notes:

• «Appuntamenti» stays highlighted even inside the working card of an appointment.
• All three roles (Titolare, Responsabile, Operatore) can open all the entries of the menu, so no entry is faded or has a padlock. The differences between roles concern the individual functions inside the pages (see Roles and permissions).
• Clicking an entry, even that of the page you are already on, shrinks the chat if it was open full screen.
• The entries show no alert counters: the only marker in the menu is the red dot on the chat icon.

User bar#

At the bottom a row shows:

• the photo of the logged-in user (the same as in their personal record); if missing, an orange circle with the initial of the name;
• the name;
• the role, under the name and coloured: Titolare in amber, Responsabile in green, Operatore in light blue;
• a small arrow pointing up on the right.

A click on the row opens or closes the shelf of icons. If a panel was open (Radio, Aiuto or Lettori barcode), the click closes it.

The shelf of icons#

The shelf has two rows of three icons. After about half a second from opening, when the mouse rests on an icon a dark speech bubble appears with a title in yellow and an explanation.

The active icon (panel open, radio playing, chat open) looks pressed in: darker, with a glowing symbol.

Radio panel#

It opens from the record player and slides up from the bottom, covering the shelf.

• At the top a small Torna indietro (Go back) arrow closes the panel, and the title RADIO H24.
• A dark screen like a display: if the radio is stopped it shows SPENTO (OFF); if it is playing it shows, in green and scrolling continuously, the name of the station followed by the date and time updated every second (for example «Nome stazione • 26 Settembre 2026 • 10:32:07»). If the name is not available it shows «Radio H24».
• Below, the station buttons, in a two-column grid: each button is a cover with the name of the station; when you hold the mouse over it the full name appears.
• A click on a station starts it. If another one was playing, it switches to the new one. A click on the station that is already playing pauses it. The button of the station playing looks pressed.
• While the radio plays, the record player icon stays highlighted even when the panel is closed, and the radio carries on while you change page.
• There is no volume control or separate stop button. If the list of stations does not load the grid stays empty.

Aiuto panel#

The panel has the heading SEGNALA PROBLEMA (REPORT A PROBLEM) and the Torna indietro arrow. It contains two choices:

Lettori barcode panel#

It is used to see whether the readers are connected and to choose what they do when a code is read. If the location does not have the Narciso Hub, the yellow warning «Per gestire i barcode, devi prima acquistare Narciso Hub. Contatta qui l'assistenza per maggiori info» (To manage barcodes, you must first buy Narciso Hub. Contact support here for more info) appears and the panel does not open. The Chat panel#

The Chat button brings up on the right a panel with the list of conversations (see The chat in the side menu).

• A second click on the Chat icon closes the panel.
• The button to shrink reduces the panel to a tab near the right edge: a click on the tab reopens it. The tab can be dragged up and down by holding down the mouse (or finger); it always stays 10 pixels from the top edge and 90 from the bottom. A click without dragging reopens it.
• With unread messages the red dot appears on the Chat icon and on the tab.
• When you change page from the menu, the chat open full screen shrinks to the narrow panel.
• The position of the tab and the state (open, shrunk, expanded) are remembered for that user and that device, even after reloading the page. If you do not touch the chat for more than 12 hours the state is forgotten and it starts again from the normal menu; another browser or another computer has its own state.

Designer page: the menu that hides#

When you open the Designer page and the graphic editor is active, the side menu retracts by itself to make room for the editor. At the top left a dark tab appears with the hint Apri il menu laterale (Open the side menu); with the menu open you see another next to it, Richiudi il menu laterale (Close the side menu again). If you leave the page and come back, the menu hides again by itself.
