File formats and sizes

Translated from the Italian guide. Narciso itself is in Italian, so the names of buttons, menus and fields are shown exactly as they appear on screen, with a translation in brackets where it helps.

Every file upload has a format and a maximum size. This entry summarises the most common limits. The platforms Narciso sends files to (WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Telegram, email) also have their own rules, often stricter than the program's.

Photos of clients, suppliers, staff, products and services#

Photos are automatically converted to WebP. A file in a format that is not allowed is ignored.

Staff documents#

PDF, DOC, DOCX, JPG, PNG and WebP, up to 20 MB. A different format produces the message «Formato file non supportato. Solo PDF, DOC, DOCX e Immagini sono ammessi.» (File format not supported. Only PDF, DOC, DOCX and Images are allowed.).

Chat attachments#

The limit depends on the channel the message is sent on.

If a file is not accepted by the chosen channel, a red notification appears and the file is not added to the message:

  • «"nome": il formato .XXX non è supportato da [canale]. Convertilo in YYY.» ("name": the .XXX format is not supported by [channel]. Convert it to YYY.) when the format is not allowed (the program suggests a similar format when one exists);
  • «"nome" pesa N MB: su [canale] il massimo per questo tipo di file è M MB.» ("name" weighs N MB: on [channel] the maximum for this type of file is M MB.) when the file is too heavy;
  • «File "nome" troppo grande (Max 20MB)» (File "name" too large (Max 20MB)) on the channels with a 20 MB limit.

The most common formats that WhatsApp Aziendale and Instagram do not accept are WebP, GIF, SVG and HEIC for images, MOV and AVI for WhatsApp, WAV for WhatsApp. A WebP image can be converted to JPG or PNG; a MOV video to MP4.

For email and PEC, the limits of the recipient's and sender's mail service also apply: a message can be rejected by that service even if Narciso accepts it.

Social library#

Direct upload to the Social library accepts:

The limits match the lowest value among those of the platforms you publish on (for photos, Instagram). Other formats, for example SVG or HTML, are not allowed. For publishing, the rules of each platform still apply (see Social media).

Designer#

Media files uploaded to Designer can be up to 50 MB each (see Designer).

Photos for the Google profile#

For the Google profile (see Google listing) photos must be JPG or PNG, between 10 KB and 5 MB, with the shorter side at least 250 pixels. Google does not accept WebP.
